Meet Your Aberdeen Dentists

Dr. John Carrels, D.D.S.

Dr. John Carrels is a second generation dentist and an Aberdeen native. Dr. Carrels and his wife have three children. He has practiced dentistry in Aberdeen since graduating from the University of Minnesota Dental School in 1989. His father, Dr. Donald Carrels, started a dental practice in Aberdeen in 1951.

Dr. John Carrels is committed to providing his patients with excellent dental care. He regularly attends advanced dental education programs and classes, continuing to build his knowledge and expertise.

Dr. Carrels is a sports enthusiast and local athletics booster, and has served as a youth basketball and soccer coach. He also enjoys bird-watching and spending time at the lake with his family and friends.

Dr. Mark Bain, D.D.S.

Dr. Mark Bain and his wife Caroline have six children and are both Aberdeen natives and graduates of Aberdeen Roncalli High School. Dr. Bain received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Dakota in 2002. He graduated from Creighton University School of Dentistry in 2006 and completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency with the United States Air Force in 2007.

Dr. Bain returned home in 2009 to join the practice after completion of his service obligation in the United States Air Force as a general dentist. He held the rank of Captain and his assignments included time at Offutt AFB, NE and Whiteman AFB, MO.

He enjoys spending time with his family and friends. His primary interests are sports and outdoor activities. He is committed to staying at the forefront of the dental profession and regularly participates in ongoing education.

Dr. Donald Pollard, D.D.S.

Dr. Donald (DJ) Pollard Jr. is from St. Louis Park, MN and his wife Amanda is an Aberdeen native. They are proud parents of their daughter and one dog.

Dr. Pollard attended Northern State University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in 2018. He was also a member of the men’s basketball team.  He graduated from University of Minnesota Dental School in 2022. Dr. Pollard is committed to proving top-notch care to his patients. He will be attending continuing education courses regularly to advance his dentistry skills and knowledge.

He enjoys watching and playing sports, biking, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

Kelsey

Dental Hygienist

Kelsey is a Registered Dental Hygienist with an associate degree from the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND. Kelsey is certified in administering local anesthesia. She enjoys being at the lake and spending time with family, friends, and her dog Lola.

Emily

Dental Hygienist

Emily is a Registered Dental Hygienist with an Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene from M State in Moorhead, MN. Emily is certified in administering local anesthesia and nitrous oxide. She enjoys spending time with family and friends along with being at the lake.

Amber

Dental Hygienist

Amber is a Registered Dental Hygienist and an Aberdeen native. She received an Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene from North Dakota State College of Science in 2013. She is a mom to two young boys and enjoys golfing with her husband as well as scrapbooking and crafting.

Jana

Dental Hygienist

Jana is a Registered Dental Hygienist with an Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene from North Dakota State College of Science.  Jana is certified in administering local anesthetic.  She is a mom to two young boys and enjoys hiking, reading and CrossFit.

Brittany

Dental Hygienist

Brittany is a Registered Dental Hygienist with an associates degree in Dental Hygiene from St Cloud, Minnesota. She is certified in administering local anesthetic and nitrous oxide. She stays busy with her two young sons and enjoys outside adventures with her family.

Liz

Certified Dental Assistant

Liz is a graduate of Lake Area Technical Institute with 22 years experience, all in our office. In her free time, Liz enjoys crocheting, collecting yarn, and spending time with her husband and their four cats.

Deb

Certified Dental Assistant

Deb is certified as an Advanced Dental Assistant with 37 years of experience. She is a graduate of Lake Area Technical Institute. In her free time she enjoys helping people, spending time with her husband and four sons, and spending time at the lake.

Becky

Certified Dental Assistant

Becky is from Brookings, SD and graduated from Lake Area Technical Institute in May 2015. She enjoys going to concerts, traveling, watching movies, and reading.

Maycie

Certified Dental Assistant

Maycie is from Watertown, SD and graduated from Lake Area Technical College in May 2022. She enjoys cooking, movie nights with her husband, and spending time with her family.

Dawn

Office Manager

Dawn is an Aberdeen native and has worked in the healthcare field for 22 years. Dawn enjoys photography, scrapbooking, yoga, reading and spending time with family at the lake if she isn’t traveling the state watching her two boys in their sports activities.

Chris

Receptionist

Chris is originally from Watertown, SD and has worked in the dental field for nine years.  Chris enjoys spending time with her husband and three children as well as gardening, walking/hiking, reading, travel and pets.

Teagan

Receptionist

Teagan was born and raised here in Aberdeen, SD.  She graduated from Lake Area Technical Institute with her degree in Dental Assisting in 2020.  She loves to see the transformation of a patient’s confidence and their smile!  When she is not working she enjoys spending time with family, traveling, shopping and watching movies.
